Marlena Connor - President
Marlena Connor is an Account Director at Deutsch Inc., an integrated advertising and communications agency in New York City. Her background includes 15 years of experience in advertising and internet marketing at several leading agencies. Marlena was diagnosed with PNH in 2005 and is an active member of the PNH Community.
Tamir Orbach - Vice President
Tamir is a solutions specialist for Microsoft in the Mid-Atlantic
States region and has been working in the software industry for the last 10
years. He was formerly an officer (secretary) and on the board of thinkXML, a
VC funded startup that was founded in 1998 and was acquired by Zions Bank
in 2001. Tamir was diagnosed with PNH in April 2004, and had a blood stem cell
(bone marrow) transplant to cure him of PNH in July 2004. He has since then
been actively involved in fund raising activities for the PNH Research and
Support Foundation.
Dr. J. David Higgins, Ph.D., O.D. - Treasurer
David is Sara Higgins' (the founder of the PNH foundation) father and an optometrist in Eliot, ME. Before becoming an
optometrist, he graduated from Penn State with a Ph.D. in psychophysiology. His
primary research was in the arena of pain.
Margaret Norton - Secretary
Margaret is a research scientist in horticulture at the University of Illiniois,
Urbana-Champagne, specializing in plant propogation and improvement via plant
tissue culture. She was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in 1961, and 6 months
later was diagnosed with PNH at the age of 8. She is active in patient support
on the PNH Support Group website (www.pnhdisease.org).
David Ott, Esq. - Clerk
David is a lawyer in Maine, and also has a long history of public service. His
knowledge of the workings of nonprofit organizations has been a valuable asset.
Dr. David Araten, M.D., B.A. - Board Member
David, a graduate of Harvard Medical School, is an assistant professor of
hematology at NYU School of Medicine as well as a member of NYU Hematology
Associates. As one of the top PNH specialists in the country, he has vast
clinical and research experience with PNH and is currently on the scientific
advisory board of the PNH Registry. He has presented at several patient
conferences on PNH and is very dedicated to his patients.

Susan Todd - Board Member
Susan is the owner of a retail arts business in Chicago. She has been an
account executive and benefits analyst in the insurance industry. She has a
MUPP in urban planning, specializing in health planning and policy. She has
worked in community and economic development, public health research and has a
strong interest in access to health care issues. She was diagnosed with PNH/AA
in 1998, has attended several AAMDSIF patient conferences and is active in the
PNH Support Group.
